It is Snowing!

Vancouver Canucks vs Ottawa Senators
Nice headline. I wish it was true. I know you don't but this is me.

Do you bet on sports? The Vancouver Canucks have been kind to me for quite a while now.  I am not sure if I should back them tonight or not. The game should be theirs but winning streaks don't last forever.

I can get 1.56 odds from most bookies and it is tempting. I will decide in the next 5 minutes.

Nothing more for now, I may revisit later.

Thanks for looking.

Just a Couple of Blocks Away

There was a little mishap about 3 blocks up the road from The Burrard Pub.

I got a couple of pictures and can tell you no one was hurt. I overheard the driver telling someone on the phone she was going to be late.

It is a little hard to figure what took place to cause this. There was only one car involved and dry road.

Here are the pictures...

Looks like fun doesn't it?

There is Another Burrard Pub!

bThe Burrard Street bridge in downtown Vancouver.
Image via Wikipedia
The other Pub is in downtown Vancouver. Under the Burrard Bridge. It is named The Burrard Bridge Bar and Grill, but is known as the Burrard Pub and also "the Pirate Pub".

I guess I will have to visit it and report back. Maybe you have been there? If you have how about a short sentence or two?

I will see if there is a blog. Then maybe I can p/u some info before I go.

I am back from a short search and have read a couple of reviews. I will only say that most of them where not great. Don't mistake this Burrard for the one on Saint Johns in Port Moody. It has a sign saying "The Burrard Public House" but you know it will be known as "The Burrard" to the patrons.

I will refer you to this - http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/14/1443079/restaurant/Downtown/Burrard-Bridge-Bar-Grill-Vancouver
Let me know if you have been to either one of the "Burrards".

Thanks

Lunch At The Burrard Pub

I went for lunch at the Burrard Pub in Port Moody today. The food was good, service Ok.

I will try to grab a copy of their menu for the next post I make. I don't think there was anything really spectacular on it. But I'll do my best to get a copy for you. I may have to take a picture with my phone and posted as a photo.

I noticed down the street one block at a pub called The Point big sign out front that says on Fridays any drink, anytime, $4.00. Now that's what I call a deal.

I've been in the pub before, again nothing to distinguish it in particular. It has a bunch of marine gear and junk hanging off the walls and ceiling. I suppose keeping with the name "The Point".

There's not much more to say for today but I see a twitter account @theburrardpub. You should have a look at it and follow it.

I Am Going To Add a Picture (maybe)

I am going to see if I can put a picture here.

If it works look closely at the sign. This is a result of competition from The Burrard Pub.

The pub in the picture is 1 block away on the same side of the street. It is also VERY popular.

It looks like they are determined to keep their Friday night crowd.
If you can't read it the sign says "$4.00 Any drink any time every Friday" or something like that.

I have to admit that is a great deal. Even The Royal Canadian Legion located behind the Point Pub does not have a deal like this.

And Beer is $4.50 at the Lynnwood Hotel in North Vancouver when they are not being used as a movie set.

It looks like the picture came through OK and I am off to the Pub for a beer! Guess which one.

The New Burrard Pub

Port Moody's welcome sign.
Image via Wikipedia
Have you been to visit the new Burrard Pub in Port Moody, BC?

After the old "Jake's Landing" pub closed a couple of years ago the owners have finally got a new pub up and running.

If you have never been to Jake's don't worry about it. You did not miss anything. Well the grub was not bad and beer was cheap. The rest of the story is best left untold.

The replacement for Jake's named "the Burrard Public House" is the complete opposite to good old Jake's.

It is clean, well lit, pleasant to visit with good service. I will comment on the food later as I did not get a chance to run a test due to time constraints.

I am including a short review/comment by another customer to give you a little more to go on for now;

I ordered a glass of white wine.... it came with a cloudy film >>>>> i pointed out to the waitress.... she immediately corrected. our order of chilli chicken was disappointing and we were presented from the chef with an awesome cheese cake to correct and the owner listening to our concerns, These are serious about their business> I suggest visiting and deciding for yourself
